Opera Asia Pacific Fall Summit 2026
29 October – 1 November 2026 | Shenzhen, China
The Opera Asia Pacific Fall Summit 2026 will take place in Shenzhen, China, from Thursday, 29 October to Sunday, 1 November 2026.
Following the conversations initiated through Opera Asia Pacific’s growing regional network, the Fall Summit brings together opera companies, conservatories, educators, artistic leaders, casting professionals and artists from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. With approximately 30 delegates planned, the gathering is designed as an intimate working summit focused on building practical connections and developing new opportunities for the next generation of opera professionals.
Summit Focus (29 October and 30 October)
The 2026 Fall Summit will centre on three key areas: youth pipeline development and co-productions.
Across four days of conversations, workshops and networking, participants will explore how opera organisations and educational institutions can work more closely together to create sustainable pathways between training and the professional industry.
Key areas of discussion will include:
- Youth pipeline development and pathways from education into the profession
- Co-productions, project exchange and international collaboration
- Technology in opera, performance and professional training
- Networking between opera companies, conservatories, educators and artists
- New models for collaboration across the Asia-Pacific opera sector
Workshops & Casting (31st Oct – 1st Nov)
Alongside the summit discussions, the programme will include casting workshops led by industry professionals and a casting audition held in conjunction with the summit.
These activities are intended to create direct contact between emerging artists, educators and professional organisations, while giving participants an opportunity to exchange perspectives on artistic readiness, casting practices and the changing needs of the international opera industry.
A Working Summit
Rather than a conventional conference, the Fall Summit is conceived as a working convening: a space for focused discussion, exchange and relationship-building between institutions and individuals actively shaping the future of opera.
The aim is not simply to discuss collaboration, but to identify opportunities for concrete partnerships, artist mobility, educational exchange, future productions and joint initiatives.
