Four decades after its Broadway premiere, Into the Woods remains one of the most beloved classics of modern musical theatre. In 2026, Opera Queensland, Queensland Theatre Company, and Queensland Symphony Orchestra join forces for a new production of this Tony Award-winning masterpiece.
With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, Into the Woods brings together iconic fairy-tale characters including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, and Rapunzel. As their stories collide, the musical asks what happens after “… everyone lives happily ever after”.
